Exciting things happen at the museum EVERY day. During regular hours of operation, On-Floor Science Demonstrations are FREE to visitors with paid admission to the Children's Museum and Science Center. However, if you or your group wishes to schedule another demonstration other than what has been regularly scheduled, a small fee of $10.00 per demonstration will be charged. Please remember to ask the museum's scheduling secretary (252-972-1167) which on-floor science demonstrations will be performed on the day of your group's visit.
Living Marsh Chit Chat: Gather around our 2,800 gallon saltwater touch pool and learn about the unique ecosystem as one of the museum's live animal specialists introduce the critters of the marsh.
Segway Demonstration: Take a spin on one of this century's coolest inventions - the Segway Human Transporter!
Arc & Sparks: Come enjoy this electrifying look at static, current, and chemical electricity - we'll make your hair stand on end!
Story Time with Professor Storyteller: Everyone enjoys a good story, Join professor Storyteller for a fun-filled adventure through a science-themed storybook.
Gallery Walk About: Join one of the museum's dynamic on-floor presenters as they walk you through the CMSC pointing out wonderful must-sees along the way!
Lung Lab: An unforgettable hands-on demonstration of the power and fragility of real mammalian lungs. Visitors can get a close-up view of and understanding of the working of LUNGS, and see the firsthand effects of smoking.
Animal Encounter: Spiders and snakes and gators - oh my! Get up close and personal with one of the museum's LIVE animals.

The Children's Museum and Science Center offers entertaining and engaging birthday parties for children of all ages. Party programs include:
Earthbones or Stories in Stone:
Discover the treasures under our feet; rocks and minerals or fossils. What kids unearth they may keep. (For ages 6 and older. Non-City Residents - $130.00 : $105.00 City Residents and/or FRIENDS of the CMSM).
Animal Tracks:
Explore the wonderful world of animals that live on the farm, in the forest or at the zoo by examining the tracks they leave -- then make a plaster of paris track of your very own to take home. (For ages 5 and older -- $130.00 Non-City Residents : $105.00 for City Residents and/or FRIENDS of the CMSC).
Primary Colors:
Each child will receive a personalized coloring book featuring the birthday boy or girl while learning about the scientific world of colors, rainbows and more. (For ages 2 - 5 -- $130.00 Non-City Residents : $105.00 for City Residents and/or FRIENDS of the CMSC).
Star Party:
The secrets of the solar system are revealed as we journey through the cosmos in a cardboard rocket of sorts in the museum's new digital planetarium. (For ages 6 and older -- $240.00 Non-City Residents : $195.00 for City Residents and/or FRIENDS of the CMSC) .
No Program Party:
If you can't decide on a museum party program but want to have your birthday party at the museum, then this is your best option . (For any age child -- $112.00 Non-City Residents : $90.00 for City Residents and/or FRIENDS of the CMSC).
